Man Uses Sweet. A Bakery & Café for Romantic Proposal

Historic Ellicott City, Maryland, January 14, 2008 — A leisurely stroll down Main Street last Saturday turned into a romantic candle-lit proposal for Robin Theimer, as her boyfriend Scott Wilhelm and the staff of Sweet. a bakery & café conspired to design an evening to remember.

Robin was looking forward to dinner with Scott at Cacao Lane, in Ellicott City’s historic district. As they walked to the restaurant, Scott paused in front of the large windows at Sweet to point out a beautiful display: a cake adorned with fresh flower petals, sitting on a gold pillow under a luxurious cloth tent, warmly lit by four hanging votive candles. Then Robin noticed the writing on the cake.

“Robin, will you marry me? Love, Scott”

And according to Robin: “I was in such surprise and felt so touched, I was like, ‘aaaaaawwwwwwwwww!’ Then he got on one knee and asked me again and put the beautiful ring on my finger. It was SUCH a surprise and so sweet!!!!”

Earlier in the week, Sweet’s Chief Creative Officer, Tracey Buchanan, worked with Scott to plan the perfect proposal. Ms. Buchanan coordinated the cake, a mouth-watering red velvet with buttercream icing, and decoration, including flowers and fabric from Wessel’s Florist across the street. Ms. Buchanan also decorated the table at Cacao Lane with a bouquet and flower petals, and delivered the cake to the restaurant after the happy couple arrived for dinner. According to Buchanan, “Working with Scott was an absolute pleasure. When he approached us earlier in the week, we thought it was such a romantic gesture and unique proposal we fell in love with the idea, and wanted everything to go perfectly for him and Robin that evening.”
